Shiatsu:
In Japanese, Shiatsu means finger pressure.
It is a powerful healing art based on the human body as
a system of energy, known as KI, chi or prana, which circulates
in channels known as meridians. When this energy is flowing
freely, we experience emotional, physical and mental health.
When this energy becomes blocked, we experience illness,
distress or pain. Releasing this energy can relieve tensions,
restore health and psychological balance and re-establish
harmony.
What can I expect?
Shiatsu has been influenced by Traditional
Chinese Medicine and works on the same energy system as
acupuncture. Instead of needles, Shiatsu uses a number of
techniques such as pressure, stretches, rocking, percussion
and palming. During treatment sessions, the client remains
fully clothed, lying on a comfortable mat on the floor,
though treatment can be done in any position, on a chair
or bed, for example.
The initial consultation involves diagnosis
and treatment with the duration and frequency of sessions
depending on the individual's symptoms. Sessions may include
dietary, lifestyle and exercise recommendations.
What can be treated?
Shiatsu can be effective in treating
and preventing many conditions including Asthma, Back Pain,
Sciatica, Whiplash, Frozen Shoulder, Headaches/Migraines,
Digestive Problems, Arthritis, Sports Injuries, Impotence,
Infertility, Menstrual Pain, ME, Insomnia, Fatigue, Anxiety,
Depression, Stress-Related Conditions, Emotional Issues,
or just to relax and treat yourself!
