McTimoney Chiropractic :
McTimoney Chiropractic is a safe, effective
and relatively gentle form of chiropractic. The aim of the
treatment is to correct and maintain alignment of the spine,
enabling the nerve supply within the body to function efficiently.
Correct alignment of the spinal vertebrae can reduce pain
and restore a range of movement not only in the back but
throughout the body.
There are many causes of spinal misalignment,
most commonly accidents, poor posture, work habits, stress
and childbirth.
Patients report relief from a wide range
of symptoms from irritable bowel syndrome to eczema, but
the following conditions frequently benefit from the McTimoney
chiropractic:
- Low back pain
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Migraine and tension headaches
- Sciatica
- Joint pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Sporting injuries
A case history of general health will
be taken at the first session before treatment commences.
The alignment of bones and joints throughout the body will
be assessed at each session and adjusted where necessary
using a range of deft techniques employing speed rather
than force to achieve results.
Both long-standing and acutely painful
symptoms can be relieved by a course of treatment, which
on average consists of between 4 and 6 sessions. Following
the initial course of treatment, regular check-ups are strongly
recommended to prevent reoccurrence and to maintain healthy
nerve function.
A 1997 survey revealed that 89% of McTimoney
chiropractic patients were either 'extremely' or 'very satisfied'
with their treatment, and 85% reported that McTimoney chiropractic
had been 'very beneficial' in the treatment of their painful
condition.
