Cranio Sacral Therapy:

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is an exceptionally gentle yet extremely powerful therapy in which the primary aim is to create and maintain a healthy balanced state on all levels. In doing this Cranio-Sacral Therapy can eliminate symptoms and their underlying causes, and can enable profoundly effective treatment of a wide range of conditions - from simple aches and pains to the most complex, chronic or persistent problems.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy can be used for all ages, from new born babies to the elderly. Its gentleness makes it very suitable for babies and children and in any acutely painful situation, and also makes it a very comfortable, relaxing and pleasant form of treatment.

The applications of Cranio-Sacral Therapy can be beneficial in almost any condition, because it is essentially concerned with enhancing health, strength and vitality at the very core of our being, thereby stimulating the body's own natural potential, eradicating the root of any problem, gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the most complex and intractable conditions, and integrating all the body's resources to function at their optimum level.

Treatment often brings a feeling of deep relaxation an warmth as the whole person - body and mind - is encouraged towards a more balanced, calm an integrated state of well-being.

How does it work?

Cranio-Sacral Therapy involves a very gentle touch of the practitioners hands, both for the diagnosis and for the treatment. This light contact may be taken up on the Cranium (head), the Sacrum (tailbone) or any other part of the body as appropriate.

By tuning in in this gentle way, the practitioner can identify pulls, twists and tensions which may be distorting or restricting the normal symmetrical rythmic motion of the Cranio-Sacral System. These distortions are inevitably a reflection of disturbances to our health.

Through a gentle interaction with these tensions an twists - still with a very light touch - the practitioner can not only diagnose the source of the problem, but can also encourage a therapeutic response from the subtle mechanisms deep within the body which make up the Cranio-Sacral System.

The body has a natural desire to promote an maintain health and to counteract disease and infection. Healthy function is however dependent on the free, unrestricted mobility of all body tissues and fluids.

Any interference with this free mobility will lead to congestion, blockage and stagnation and so to the build up of disease and dysfunction.

The Cranio-Sacral Therapist aims to identify and release any restrictions in the body and so to restore the free flow of vitality and normal healthy function to every part of the body and to the person as a whole.
