Tui na massage:

Chinese medicine is a great treasure house. Over many centuries practitioners have created many treatments for disease for example, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Tui na, Cupping Therapy, Moxibustion, Qi Gong and so on. Tui na massage is an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine and follows the theory and practice of traditional medicine. There are many benefits for the use of tui na massage:

  • Regulates chi and blood
  • Remove swelling and stops pain
  • Brakes down and removes scar tissue
  • Re-aligns poor joint movement
  • Increases the range of movement
  • Increases oxygen flow into the tissues
  • There are many more benefits but can’t list them all…

Tui na is unlike other massage in that you do not need to remove your clothes, instead a sheet is placed over the patient’s body.

F.A.Q.’s:

Q. Does it hurt?
A. The massage is firm, if there is damaged tissue then it can be a little unpleasant.

Q. How long does it take?
A. Most treatments last from 30mins to 60mins.

Q. Do I have to take my clothes off?
A. Not for general massage, sometimes to protect your clothes from special oils.

Q. How does it work?
A. Tui na is sometimes called trauma therapy, as it breaks down scar tissue to speed up the healing process.

Reflexology:

Reflexology is a foot massage; according to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine the foot resembles a miniature human body.

Each group of cells of the foot functions in correspondence with human organ. In other words every organ, gland, and physiological feature has its counterpart in a reflex point in the foot. For this reason it is preferable to treat the whole person by treating the whole foot. By working on the reflection of the nerve end, has direct impact on cellular development. Its impact will multiply when reaching various human organs and adjusting their function such as digestion, growth, nervous reflection, and endocrine and hormone secretion. Treatment of the whole body through the feet is given to correct generalised imbalances as part of the complete reflexology session.

Reflexology offers a wide range of benefits, psychological and physiological, for all systems of the body. It can help with:

Stress, Anxiety and Tension

Headache, Migraine

Diabetes, Low Energy

Back Pain, Sciatica

Rheumatism, Arthritis

I.B.S. Constipation or Diarrhoea

Menopause, Hot Flushes.

Chinese herbs:

Herbs are given in many forms and raw herbs are prepared for external use. After many years of experience I have found that patients find the taste of herbs unpleasant and do not comply with the recommendations. In the west there is not enough time to boil and prepare the herbs due to our busy life and work schedules.

The herbs I use are prepared in granule form, there is little preparation with this method all the patient has to do is add hot water stir allow to cool then drink. This form is very convenient for storage and transport, as the shelf life of the herbs is made longer than the raw herb decoction.

Herbs are also given in capsule form. First the prescription is made up in granules then placed in veggie caps. One of the main reasons for capsules is that there are still some patients who cannot swallow and dislike the taste of the herb medicine

Internal herbs or external herbs

The most common way of taking herb medicine is orally, there are many conditions where external application would assist or be the preferred method.

Four standard herbal recipes are available for common ailments. A recipe can be made to suit your own needs

  • Recipe 1. Athletes foot, Warts, Tinea, verrucas, Hard skin, Hard dry skin (with cracks).
  • Recipe 2. Poor circulation, Rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Recipe 3. Poor circulation, poor energy.
  • Recipe 4. Poor circulation, Diabetes, Hard dry skin.

The herbs are ingested through the acu-points of the feet rather than experiencing the bitter taste in the mouth.

Through external trauma injury to the muscle or skin herb sprays, herb poultices and creams are given to stop local bleeding, clear bruising and quicken the speed of repair.

What are the benefits?

Herb medicine offers a wide range of benefits, both physiological as well as psychological, for all the systems of the body. While allopathic practitioners and doctors claim to treat the disease, while using herb medicine I claim to treat the person with the disease strengthening the constitution and improving the quality of their lives. Herb medicine can be used to treat the symptoms while improving the immune system, strengthen the digestion, tonify and cleanse the blood and increase ones energy. Herb medicine can be used to regulate the organs and the flow of blood.
